Joh 14:6-9 - Jesus said to him, I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you do know Him, and have seen Him. And Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us. Jesus said to him, Am I so long a time with you, and you have not known Me, Philip? The one seeing Me has seen the Father! And how do you say, Show us the Father? 2Co 6:16 - And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are a temple of the living God, even as God said, "I will" dwell in them and "walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." 1Pe 2:5 - you also as living stones are being built a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. This is not just another "how-to" set of teachings to instruct in principles by which to live the Christian life. This is a site meant to teach that God does not live in houses of stone but in those who belong to Him. He wants to live in you and in me -- ultimately in everyone -- and that is His Plan of the Ages! The tabernacle and the temple of the Old Testament were beautiful pictures of the Living Temple, Jesus Christ, and those who belong to them by faith -- those in whom the Spirit of God has come to take up dwelling. We need to learn who we are in Christ and Who Christ is in us. As believers, we are Christ's Body on earth, His Temple. We are on earth being transformed by God into the image of Christ. As individual believers, we are Lively Stones in His Temple because His Spirit lives in us. As His collective Body we are His Temple because His Spirit lives in us and brings us into spiritual unity with each other as we shine the Light of His Glory before the world. God is at work in each and every one who belongs to Him. We do not work at becoming perfected; rather He works in us to bring about His perfection; that work is done by God's grace, by His indwelling Spirit as we surrender and walk in His Truth, His Word. It is God that builds the temple, not men or institutions. It is no accident that Jesus was a carpenter by trade. That is a beautiful picture of the One Who is the Builder of the Temple of God. Jesus said, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up." (John 2:19) He spoke of His body. God did indeed raise His own physical body back to life in three days after His crucifixion. It is also a picture of Jesus raising up His Temple -- the Body of Christ -- to eternal life and unto perfection. |
